Want a good old fashioned masala chai, but without any of the caffeine? No frills, just the classic spice blend? Here, we have the answer. Red rooibos and honeybush from the Fynbos shrubland in South Africa, mixed with our house spice blend of cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, clove, and black pepper. With absolutely no caffeine, this has all the flavors you expect from a straight-up masala chai, but with pleasant overtones of honey, bourbon, and tobacco.
Shrubland Spice — Classic Red Rooibos Herbal Masala Chai
- Use 20g (≈3 tbsp) of leaf per ½ liter (≈17 oz).
- Steep 7+ minutes in a mix of ¼ liter (≈8 oz) boiling (90°C/195°F) water and ¼ liter (≈8 oz) hot milk (we recommend whole milk)
- Strain leaves, add sugar if you like (1 tsp usually does it for this one), and enjoy!
