Sure, we have your choice of teas to start your day off, we have English, Scottish, Irish, African, even a boozy breakfast, but what about Second Breakfast? The first cup, to help wake up and open your eyes, is great and all, but you need a second one, something with a kick, something to give you energy for the rest of the day now that you're up.
The Second Breakfast is a powdered tea made from traditional black tea from Sri Lanka. Now this isn't technically a matcha, it's a "powdered tea," since it isn't Tencha-grade steamed Japanese green tea. We call it matcha anyway, though, 'cause it might as well be.
A traditional bowl of this will result in a quite astringent drink with earthy tones, while making a sweet matcha latte of it will give you the smoothest, creamiest, richest breakfast tea you've ever had. Don't over-caffeinate first-thing in the morning! Wake up slowly with a pleasant breakfast tea, and save the kickstart for your Second Breakfast.
